Viant acquires injection molder Knightsbridge Plastics | Plastics News
Viant Medical Inc. has acquired Fremont, Calif.-based Knightsbridge Plastics Inc., to add micromolding capabilities to its portfolio of design and manufacturing services for medical devices.
"Knightsbridge and Viant share a common approach to partnering with customers," Jemma Fullerton, director of marketing at Viant, told Plastics News in an email. "Knightsbridge's innovative capabilities in high precision injection molding strengthen and expand our solutions supporting OEM customers."
"We anticipate that this will be a seamless transition and the day-to-day activities of Knightsbridge will remain the same," Fullerton said.
MBS Advisors represented Knightsbridge Plastics in this transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
The addition of Knightsbridge broadens Viant's ability to produce injection molded parts and micro-components that are increasingly in demand for next-generation medical devices and advanced drug delivery systems, a Nov. 5 news release said.
"We're excited to incorporate some of the most innovative micro-molding technologies into our suite of services to produce complex components with unmatched precision and accuracy," Alton Shader, CEO of Viant, said in the release.
"This acquisition reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in advanced technologies and capabilities that support our customers by bringing breakthrough medical technologies to market," Shader said.
Knightsbridge Plastics specializes in designing and producing injected molded parts and micro-components for the medical device, biomedical and technology industries.
Knightsbridge was founded as Camtex Horizons Inc. in 1982, and was initially focused on making close-tolerance injection molded parts for the electronics and semiconductor industries. It evolved into what is now Knightsbridge Plastics in 1996.
Knightsbridge has annual sales of $21 million and 98 employees, according to Plastics News data.
Foxborough, Mass.-based Viant Medical ranks at No. 16 in PN's survey of North American injection molders, with estimated sales in the region of $555 million and eight plants in North America. The company has a total of 25 global locations and 6,000 employees.
Viant is the former MedPlast Inc., which was purchased by Waterstreet Healthcare Partners in 2016 and rebranded as Viant in 2018.
